چکیده
This study assessed the breakdown of lignocellulosic biomass (LB) with ionic liquid (IL) 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate ([Emim][Ac]) as a pretreatment to increase methane yield. The was conducted for wheat straw (WS), barley (BS), and grape stem (GS) at 120 °C min, using several LB [Emim][Ac] ratios (1:1, 1:3, 1:5 w/w). Pretreatment significantly disrupted lignocellulose matrix each into soluble sugars. GS showed highest sugar yield, which followed by WS, while BS slightly hydrolyzed (175.3 ± 2.3, 158.2 5.2, 51.1 3.1 mg glucose g–1 biomass, respectively). Likewise, reduced cellulose crystallinity index (CrI) resulting solid fractions WS 15% 9%, respectively, but affected CrI (5%). Thus, BMP tests were only carried out raw hydrothermally (1:5) pretreated WS. untreated similar yields those achieved fraction obtained after an ratio (219 10 368 1 mL CH4 VS, production plus IL increased 1.61- 1.34-fold compared respectively.

Multi-scale processes of beech wood disintegration and pretreatment with 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate/water mixtures
BACKGROUND The valorization of biomass for chemicals and fuels requires efficient pretreatment. One effective strategy involves the pretreatment with ionic liquids which enables enzymatic saccharification of wood within a few hours under mild conditions. This pretreatment strategy is, however, limited by water and the ionic liquids are rather expensive. The scarce understanding of the involved ...

BACKGROUND Ionic liquids (ILs) are considered as suitable candidates for lignocellulosic biomass pretreatment prior enzymatic saccharification and, obviously, for second-generation bioethanol production. However, several reports showed toxic or inhibitory effects of residual ILs on microorganisms, plants, and animal cells which could affect a subsequent enzymatic saccharification and fermentati...

AIMS This work aimed to characterize microbial tolerance to 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate ([C2mim][OAc]), an ionic liquid that has emerged as a novel biomass pretreatment for lignocellulosic biomass. METHODS AND RESULTS Enrichment experiments performed using inocula treated with [C2mim][OAc] under solid and liquid cultivation yielded fungal populations dominated by Aspergilli. Ionic...
متن کاملExtrusion Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Biomass: A Review
Bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass to bioethanol has shown environmental, economic and energetic advantages in comparison to bioethanol produced from sugar or starch. However, the pretreatment process for increasing the enzymatic accessibility and improving the digestibility of cellulose is hindered by many physical-chemical, structural and compositional factors, which make these material...
